Singapore’s taxi giant ComfortDelGro announced that it now accepts Alipay for fare payments. Alipay has entered five key areas of the Singaporean market: fashion, food, accommodation, tourism, and play.
ComfortDelGro is one of Singapore’s largest taxi companies. It has more than 15,000 taxis. To date, ComfortDelGro has received more than 10,000 transactions after the taxi operator launched the trial of contactless payments in early July.
Since September 2015, Alipay has been working with local businesses in Singapore. At present, nearly 2,000 merchants in Singapore have accepted payment by Alipay. Among the businesses are food and beverages, hotels, retail, and tourist attractions. Alipay has recently begun to accelerate and deepen its reach into the Singaporean market.
Early this month, Southeast Asia’s online-to-offline (O2O) mobile platform Fave announced its partnership with Alipay to provide customers with a seamless cross-border payment experience. This partnership will allow Alipay users to pay via Alipay at offline retailers that are part of the Fave ecosystem. Alipay users will also gain special access to offers and rewards.
