Malaysia’s Changing Production Structure 1980-2013

Over the years, Malaysia has shifted away from agriculture and towards services in its economic production structure. Manufacturing still contributes a major proportion of GDP but has fallen slightly relative to services. Services in Malaysia does range from the very high value added areas of finance, insurance and real estate to accommodation and food sectors. Retail and wholesale trade also figures as a large portion of the services sector.

Note: there are some rounding errors in the figures which means that the columns do not always add up to 100%.
